Markets and Lumpinipark     Tuk-Tuk

A visit at one of the many markets in Thailand is always an extraordinary experience. During our first trip to Bangkok of course, we visited the famous Weekend market (Suan Chatuchak) At this time it was a long way by taxi, meanwhile you can go there by elevated railway. More than 6000 traders offer nearly everything on this busy market.

You can by also textiles, leather and household articles, living animals, an all that, which swims and crawls. We made very big eyes about this variety of goods.

Also the fruit and vegetables market were very exotic, too. It smelled of the mixture of the many different Curries and sauces, lemon grass and ginger, Basil and Coriander. It was the heaven on earth for us. But at the other side there was the dried fish and shrimps an it was nothing for our noses.

From the many open-air kitchens it bubbles and steams more than enticing and we had much problems to control ourselves. We enjoyed this exotic atmosphere for many hours.

Another weekend event is the visit of the Lumpini Park. On Sundays it is a popular destination for Thai families. Here we could watch the family life of the Thais in the best way.

We were the only Europeans here and Erhard was a big attraction with its fair moustache. Everyone who saw him, start laughing and had a great fun.
