Nong Khai

Nong
Khai is a nice small Border town to Laos and was the last station of our journey
by the Isaan. Over in the year 1994 opened friendship bridge there is a more or
less direct connection to Laos. Therefore are also many Travellers on the way,
and you can find many guesthouses, restaurants and Internet cafes.
Because
of the separated situation is the Thai- language not the main language here,
Isaan and Lao is very popular. But because of the tourist is English no problem.

On the bank of the
Mekong there is a large Indochina/Laos Market, on which one gets everything.
Here are goods offered from Thailand, Laos, Vietnam and China.

Naturally, like everywhere in Thailand there are many beautiful Wats, too.

At all
Nong Khai is a very pleasant city and a stay about few days is really nice.
We
arrived Saturday afternoon and visited on Sunday the Sarnelli House. On the next
day we wanted to go by Motorbike along the beautifully described route at the
Mekong to the west direction Tha Bo and the Wat Khaek with its famous
sculptures. But straight on this day it rains cats and dogs and our trip fell
into the water. We could not change our trip to the next day, because our plane
to Bangkok was already booked for this day. It was very pity but we hope we can
do this trip at a next time.
