Gebetsmühle, Souvenier

Nepal, the bird of paradise of Asia, was always characterized as the "mysterious kingdom or country of the Gods and Yetis". There are no much countries in those the senses of the visitors will be so much confused. We were bewitched by the gentle, tolerant and always smiling inhabitants, confused by the large Spiritualism and dominance of the religions of the Hinduism and the Buddhisms and shocked by the great poverty an misery in the country.

Our Nepal/north India round trip started in Kathamandu, where we visited the great temple district at the Durban Square. In Bhaktapur, one of the further king cities did not change the townscape for centuries. Age-old partially purged but also beautiful timber buildings and unsurfaced loam routes arranged the impression that we were at the deepest Middle Age.

A little bit confused of this sight and the deep poverty of the people here, we drove to Bodnath, that is famous for its round white Stupa with the“ all seeing eyes" of Buddha. The peaceful atmosphere of this place has fascinated us immediately.
