       Gargano      

Some years ago, we discovered the Gargano for us during a 6-week journey through Italy. Since then we spent many vacations at the spur of Italy. Even by tent, camper or at the bungalow, here we found everything, what belongs to active holidays for us. Best wind of 4 - 6 Beaufort for windsurfing, beautiful ways and paths for mountain biking in unaffected nature and last but not least the Italian way of life an all without the touristic hurly-burly of the Adria beaches.

Vieste, a town with medieval charm, small lanes, is the eastern city of the Gargano. It is very delightful to stroll by the lanes after sunset, if the tourists left the city. Here you can see Italy life at its best. The landmark of Vieste is the Pizzomunno, a sandstone monolith over its much legends to be told.

Around Vieste there are many camping grounds directly at the sea. They are only frequented by thirty percent in the lower-season, at the beginning of September and therefore there is a very pleasant relaxed atmosphere. You can eat also in the restaurant of the campground, or you can take your Pizza away. It always tasted well.

At the Gargano you can do everything more, like visiting the cave graves, the sea grottos, the old towers at the coast or the Natural park “Forest Umbra”. The versatility of the Gargano is singular.
